Backyard Drift
As an observer of my surroundings, I catalog imagery from the landscape around me — bell buoys and lighthouses that mark the channel in Casco Bay, birds in the willow tree outside the window, light flickering on water.
The compositions in my paintings are mash-ups of observed, remembered and imagined places where one can be in relationship with others, the world and the self. Compressing the sensation of space and time, the paintings, like bonsai, are miniaturized representations — compact reductions of lived experience.
